A Chinese proverb says " If a thing’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well." And Deming said:" It is not necessary to change. Survival is not mandatory." Aristotle wrote: " Quality is not act. It is a habit."
Every organization, every executive, everyone wants quality. That is Good. But why isn't everyone getting it? The answer: the subjectivity of quality. The fact is quality means different things to different people. Many view it from a consumer’s point of view, that is how satisfy is he, while others view it from a supplier’s perspective: how much value he provides. In essence, quality is a perception, one that meets the needs of the person seeking it. However, no matter how much subjective can one's perception of quality be, one thing is constant, not subjective, but fully true is: quality is not an accident. No organization provides quality goods and services as if it was a miracle. It is the result of willing, as per the Chinese proverb, efforts on changes as per Deming, and a cultural habit as per Aristotle.
